This Property Has Been Winterized
If you scanned the code on one of our stickers, you’re in the right place. RI Construction LLC winterized this vacant property to protect its plumbing. The water is off and the lines are empty — please don’t turn the water on yourself. Restoring it the wrong way can flood the home and damage the plumbing. Restoring it the right way is called dewinterization — and it’s what the form below is for.
What winterization did to this home
- Water shut off at the meter, and the meter zip-tied closed
- All water lines drained down
- Lines blown out with an air compressor
- Pressure test performed on the water lines
- Water heater drained, with its gas/electric shut off
- Non-toxic antifreeze in sink, tub, shower, and floor-drain traps
- Toilets and toilet tanks drained, with antifreeze added
- Toilets wrapped
- Winterization stickers placed on the fixtures throughout the home
- Photo documentation of the completed work
Winterization protects a vacant home by taking the water out of the system, so a hard freeze has nothing to burst. Nothing about it is permanent — it’s reversed by dewinterization when the home is ready to be lived in again.
